Static Mountain @ Ortlieb’s Tonight!

Last weekend, rock band Static Mountain performed at House of Hayes and at The El Bar in Kensington. It was their second and third shows since their 2012 inception.
In the roughly nine months the foursome has been together, they have focused on creating songs and recording but now that Static Mountain, their first album, is available and with summer looming near, the guys say they are focused on performing as much as possible.
“We’re about to embark on the crazy show journey,” says drummer Greg Foran.

That journey will include a mini tour with Juston Stens and The Get Real Gang late this summer, including a stop at the Caravan Music Festival in Belgrade Lakes, Maine.
Originally the brainchild of guitarist and vocalist Matt Williams, Static Mountain developed soon after the disbanding of Lightinging, a project in which Williams and Foran were bandmates.
“It’s a natural thing that happened organically. It was kind of meant to be and I know that we’re all pretty happy with each other,” says Foran.
Along with guitarist James Appello and bassist Danny Schneiderman, Static Mountain has developed a sound that is to its core rock ‘n’ roll, peppered with guitar solos and blending in a bit of blues and fuzziness.
“How it works more or less is whatever comes out comes out,” says Williams. “We like to get weird. It’s never intentional, it’s just kind of what we like and usually it just comes out kind of rocky, jammy and psychedelic.”
Static Mountain plays Ortlieb’s tonight with Juston Stens and The Get Real Gang and Brass Bed. See here for ticket info.
