Matt Leister consistently captures quality pictures that evoke the emotion of the performers and his articles that complete the event are well written, keenly descriptive of the band, music, performers, and crowd leaving you with a sense that you were there. He is a great asset to your publication. I was shocked not to see his name among your contributors. His talent should be used by Jump Philly more often.

Sorry. We’re a low key operation, run by volunteers. We had not updated this staff list since the mid-1990s or so. He’s there now.

I appreciate and I am very impressed by your quick response to my comment. I checked, and sure enough, he was listed among your CONTRIBUTORS. Thank you for taking your followers seriously. I do hope you use him more often, and perhaps for some larger venues as well. His writing is genuine and very good. Plus, his photography captures the essence of the performers and the show. I put his name in your Search Bar first, then go thru the rest of the publication. Jump Philly is great.

    Thank you for hearing us,
    Debbie

BTW, for all of you reading this, I neglected to re-mention “his” name so you can Search him out too. It is Matthew Leister.

Jason Miller’s statement that, “If you tend to have good taste in beer, you tend to have good taste in music,” makes it sound like, “If your not drinking good beer while listening to music, you will not appreciate its quality,” is just wrong! Some of the greatest discoveries of great music were made during the Classical Period (Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart) and as far as Classical Rock, Philadelphia has “the” man called the “Father of Rock and Roll” who discovered some and interviewed nearly all of the greatest bands in Rock History and that iis T Morgan, at WMGK. He is releasing a book soon. He would be a great interview for your magazine, and why it is much harder today for new bands to break into the business.

    Hey there,

I’m a writer in Philadelphia who has focused on music writing for the past five years. I started in Phoenix with zines and DIY blogs before quickly finding work writing for more popular entertainment papers/websites, like the Phoenix New Times and Arena.com. I’ve done everything from show reviews to album reviews and interviews. Let me know if you are looking for more writers as I’m curious about not just writing about music in general but the Philly music community as well.
