It’s with reasonable speculation that most How To Dress Well fans wonder how well Tom Krell’s voice would translate to a live performance. At the 6th Annual Roots Picnic on Saturday, Krell sounded even better than he does on Total Loss, his most recent release.

How To Dress well opened the set with a sentimental tune dedicated to a friend that they had lost.  “& It Was You,” the most popular track on his recent release, set the band and the crowd in motion.

Krell then nailed covers by R&B heavies, R Kelly and Janet Jackson. His execution of these covers was a welcomed surprised for the audience, who sang along with the widest smiles on their faces.

Needless to say, Krell has chops.
