The A3C (All Three Coasts) Hip-Hop Festival in Atlanta is entering its ninth year of operation but for the first time ever, Philly artists are getting their own showcase.

This is all thanks to the tireless work of Yusuf “Yuie” Muhammad, owner and founder of the Veteran Freshman concert series.

“I called up one of the directors at A3C and convinced him that Philly’s market can stand on its own,” Yusuf said.  “Philly MCs are creative and next to New York City, no other place represents East Coast hip-hop as genuinely.”

The Philly showcase will consist of artists handpicked by Yusuf, including Chill Moody (above, with Beano), Sean Falyon, Lee Mazin, Ground Up, Chris Vance, I-Know Brasco, Newz Huddle, Mont Brown, E-Hos, Michael MileHigh, Chase Allen and Antwan Davis.

Having been named the Philadelphia Ambassador for A3C, Yusuf has been busy with the logistics of getting his 50 member contingent down to the five-day event that begins on Thursday. On Monday, Yusuf threw a free-to-the-public sendoff party at Sigma Sound for all the performers.

“I didn’t want everyone to just meet up and go,” Yusuf said about the sendoff.  “A3C is about an atmosphere of artists, promoting potential and connecting, so I figured I might as well get a hometown start on it all.  The connections I made having previously gone to A3C changed my life. I hope it does the same for everyone going for the first time.”

The Philly showcase will take place on Saturday at Space2 at The Sound Table, starting at 10 p.m.
