Baa Ram Ewe isn’t just that chant from the movie about a pig. It’s a sister act between Meghan and Maura Filoromo, two 20-somethings from West Philadelphia who took their love for an underrated, selfless Babe and turned it into a power-pop ensemble.

Intern Derrick’s Weekend Picks: Get Romantic!

February 11, 2014

DerrickKromWhether you like it or not, Valentine’s Day is this upcoming Friday (guys, you’re welcome for the reminder). Now, some view the day as the most romantic date on the calendar, while others see it as a glorified corporate-created waste of time and money. No matter how you spin it and no matter who you spend it with, you’ll want to leave the house at some point. So how about you treat yourself or the one you love to a night (or weekend) of great music in an even greater city. Admit it, the whole flowers-and-chocolate thing is pretty overrated by this point anyway. – Derrick Krom.

One of the best parts of a live show is its ability to transform you into another world. Likely each member of the audience exits to a different state. But, it’s a world, nonetheless, outside of all that junk filling up your head.

On Saturday night, Lord Huron came to the TLA to take Philly out of its bitter February plight. Touring for their first full-length album, the five-piece group sold out the venue, filling the space tight with people and their thick winter jackets.
