Philadelphia-based four-piece band Magnificent Birds of Prey (above) teamed up with South Jersey’s The Defused to play a show together at Hard Rock Cafe last Thursday. The two bands are now touring together after recently releasing their joint project, Split-EP.
Opening the show with tons of energy, The Defused immediately got the crowd moving. The alternative rock band is comprised of lead singer Chris LaFrancis, drummer Kelly Lafrancis, guitarist Jason Zito and John Hager on bass. After switching from guitar to bass, Chris LaFrancis remained on stage to accompany the following performance, Magnificent Birds of Prey.
Carl Kunz Jr. and Lyle Kelch Jr., both on guitar and vocals, provided an excellent mixture of indie-alt rock and psychedelic punk sound while alternating throughout their set.
To conclude the evening, MBOP drummer Joel Adams strolled off stage while treating the audience to a somewhat ceremonious bagpipe solo.
