Make it Spicy. Make it Chewy. Make it Salty. Make it Gooey.
Comcast may be pure evil but this may be the greatest children’s show EVER.
It stars our pal Kurt Hunte, aka Mr. Bombadillo from Plastic Little. This episode features Spank Rock and Amanda Blank.
In the background of the above video, you can hear Plastic Little’s “The Jump Off.” Sweet.
MusicTown: Wolf Howls and Drum Solos at the Kimmel Center.
Tonight, the crowd at the Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center witnessed possibly the longest drum solo the Center has yet to experience thanks to ?uestlove’s collaborative composition: Philly-Paris Lockdown.
With ?uestlove’s encouragement, the audience also gave their best wolf howl for the renowned Philly artist.
Paris Lockdown was arranged by Philly’s own Larry Gold along with composer Daniel Felsenfeld.
?uestlove, the drummer for the The Roots, shared the stage with a small orchestral ensemble, saxophonist David Murray (whom ?uestlove hailed as “The new Coltrane”), and Amber Coffman and Haley Dekle from Brooklyn’s Dirty Projectors.
Paris Lockdown was the vividly emotional depiction of The Roots emergence in Paris, shortly after Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994, ?uestlove explained.
Keren Ann, the featured French vocalist, painted the uncertain landscape of The Roots experience in Paris. ?uestlove recounted The Roots living gig-to-gig and simply trying to survive while dealing with complete abandonment at the same time.
?uestlove didn’t miss the chance to show off his groovy drum skills, as the piece came to a close with an epic drum solo from The Roots drummer. The performance was rewarded with a standing ovation.
?uestlove waved from behind his fire-truck red drum set and flashed a large, jolly grin.
Paris Lockdown was immediately followed by a Post-Show party in the Perelman Theater. The party featured none other than ?uestlove himself spinning in honor of the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts. ?uestlove was joined by local favorites DJ AfroDJiak and Rich Medina as they blew the roof off the Perelman Theater.

Our Kevin Stairiker went to see Daryl Hall, the blond half of Hall & Oates, at the Liacouras Center at Temple University on Saturday (one week after Oates played at the Temple Performing Arts Center). Kevin filed the following report.
Images by Ben Davids.
As I treaded through heavy rain and thunder to the Liacouras Center on Saturday night, I couldn’t help but feel like the weather was a sign of things to come.
As I settled in my seat, I noticed the stage set-up, which was a mock-up of the “Live From Daryl’s House,” complete with a house background and … lots of candles. Even before the band came out, the pre-show music was enough to drive middle-aged women to dance in ways that surely would’ve embarrassed their kids had they been present. Read more…
MusicTown: A Day of Punk Under the Highway.
The Flyswatters played under I-95 at the FDR skatepark as part of the Bud Baum 50th birthday celebration.
The Trowels, Jukebox Zeros and The Slotcars were among the 8 bands that played.
MusicTown: Port St. Willow @ Miner Street Studio.

Our Colin Kerrigan watched a private performance by Port St. Willow last night at the Miner Street Studio in Fishtown. The event was a fundraiser for the indie incubator, Weathervane Music.
We’ll have more from/ about Weathervane on Tuesday when we show off one of their latest productions: music from Philly’s Hezekiah Jones.
See more images and get details about the Port St. Willow show on Colin’s site.
If you see music happening – on the street, at shows, in people’s houses, whatever – shoot it and send us your pics. We’ll show them off here, and maybe in the print edition.
MusicTown: Chubby Checker’s Son is a Funk Master.
We stopped by the Hard Rock Cafe in Center City tonight to catch up with some folks. What we found was a dude dressed in a red jump suit, belting out songs and swiveling his hips.
Turns out he’s Shan Egan, the son of Chubby Checker, and he’s the lead singer for Funk Church.
Check out the video. It’s about three kinds of awesome.
MusicTown: Yeah, We Hung Out With ?uestlove.

JUMP staffers Colin Kerrigan and Sarah Hull hung out with ?uestlove yesterday at The Roots’ studio while ?uestlove, otherwise known as Ahmir Thompson, rehearsed for his Sunday night show at the Kimmel Center.
The Sunday event is part of the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts. And the ?uestlove show is being billed as “?uestlove’s new spin on old-school Paris.”
Stay tuned for our interview with ?uestlove.

Holy Cow! Milton Street is Getting Endorsements? Where’s the Punk Rock Candidate for Mayor Now?
Milton Street, the brother of former mayor John Street , is running for mayor and gathering steam. Unions are actually endorsing the dude who recently spent 26 months in prison on tax evasion charges.
During the last mayoral campaign in 2007, Milton Street announced he was running for mayor before deciding to run for City Council.
He didn’t get the votes. And one young man with a Mohawk, Larry West, led the anti-Milton campaign back then.
Then Larry launched his own campaign for mayor.
We tracked down the so called “Punk Rock Candidate for Mayor” and profiled him in the spring issue of JUMP. Find the awesome story here.
We’re kind of hoping Larry gets back out in front of City Hall and stops the insanity again.
